How to Copy a File From One Server to Another With SCP

Administration Logo

Copying files from one server to another is an often-repeated activity. You’ve set up a SSH service on the server you want to copy a file and a SSH client from where you want to copy a file. For this purpose you can use SCP. It is really easy.

scp /home/stan/file.txt stan@stans-server.com:/tmp/file.txt

This command copies the file file.txt from where you run this command to a remote server stans-server.com.
